  • if there was indeed a need to drill more,,, it would be happening,,, dont need no stinking new bill. back during jimmy rabbits term and his fake (oil crisis) the rig count shot up like a rocket,,, and everyone made money,,, for,, about 10 years,,, a drilling spurt has been historically about every 20 years,,,

    if we need it,, well drill,,, no sense manufacturing an item you cant sell tho,,, the price has gone up,, but to make money,, you have to sell it.

  • @mejicojohn - the whole point is that a large amount of oil sits on land that is currently off-limits.  the bill says that it allows for access of that land, but in reality it gives access to part of the land that sits too far out in ocean to be cost affective.  it may be open to drilling, but if money can't be made no one will drill from it.  there ARE other places to drill, but the outer-continental shelf promises to give us a lot more.
