i have a hard time watching footage from 9/11. the last time i watched everything in full was the day that it happened. we were in drumline rehersal and my teacher recieved a call from someone, i always assumed it was from a friend in new york although it could have been someone else. there was a lot of confusion as we immediately cut practice and headed back inside with our instruments. we heard from our teacher that the world trade center had just been hit. i don't believe that any of us, or maybe only i, really understood what that meant. there was a small empty classroom next to the band hall. we filed in so that we could all watch the television and see what was happening. at that point, the first plane had already hit. the different news programs were scrambling to get every angle possible of what had happened. various people had sent in different videos, and they were even taking phone calls from people who were on the scene. the second plane hit while we were all there to watch. all i could think about was how many people must have died before my very own eyes.
